Mercedes Doctor Mountain View recommends 2012 - 2016 Mercedes sprinter van with up to 150 K miles at a price you are comfortable with
if you have more affordability you can go newer
Good to find somebody who has already replaced their DEF under warranty or recall or otherwise
Mercedes Doctor Mountain View California
I thought I wanted a 2007 2008 2009 NCV3
New concept vehicle 3
because that's the last van pre-DEF
Mercedes Doctor informed me that NCV3 also risky
ALTHOUGH LESS SO THAN T1N UP TO 2006
therefore I should look at the 2012 through 2016
Wonder if I had less money than I would fall back to my position of get that NCV3 2007-2009
Ford transit 90 K ART FESTIVAL CALENDAR PALO ALTO MOUNTAIN SAN FRANCISCO timing belt goes out and then I met a guy whose water pump went out and 90 K so I learned that these are not that great because they're not to go as far as the Mercedes so I used to think I did not want Mercedes because the parts are too expensive I should get but then when I learned it in general these water pumps are these timing belts need replacing at 90 Pump broke at 90 K
2007-2009 NCV3 Mercedes sprinter van were the last V6 diesel Mercedes sprinter before DEFN20 10 blue tech
Mercedes Doctor Mountain View recommends targeting 2012 through 2016 Sprinter with up to 150 K miles depending on your budget take care to buy one from somebody who has already
Replaced DEF system perhaps under warranty as that cost $3000 back then 5000 or 7000 now
After 2016 Mercedes Steelers sort of stopped addressing that as much under warranty as I understand although I am fuzzy on the details here
In other words 2017 and up it seemed less likely Mercedes would address this through recall
Yet all future vans are still vulnerable to DEF failure and DFA systems
T1N 2006 best most refined five cylinder engine million mile Sprinter
Then 2007 switched to V6 as US Fed GOVT smog requirements forced discontinuation of in-line five cylinder diesel Mercedes
IF BUY T1N then must check visibly fuel injectors for black death gunk signaling demise of engine injectors
CAP DANCE TEST
IF BUY T1N then must check visibly
CAP DANCE TEST
REMOVE VALVE COVER CAP THEN RE-THREAD ONLY JUST SLIGHTLY ENOUGH SUCH THAT CAP DOES NOT FLY OFF ENGINE.
OK for cap to bounce 1 mm or 2 mm
5 mm of dense and certainly 1 cm of bouncing valve cap indicates excessive gas blow by piston rings such engine has limited life expectancy
